Who is Louise Clark?

I'm a Twilight fanfiction writer obsessed with Kellan Lutz, a.k.a. Emmett Cullen. The pen name is a combination of Louise, which is my real life middle name, and Clark, taken after the last name of a suspense author I admired as a kid, Mary Higgins Clark.  I have always loved reading to escape the vitriol of real life.

Writing, however, is still fairly new to me. Second Chance is my first fanfic. I began writing it in late 2008/early 2009, only to begin a re-write in late 2010. Since then, I've written a couple of one-shots as well, mainly as contest entries, as well as a couple other multi-chapter fics.

Why the Twilight Saga, you may ask? Well, ever since I was little, I've sympathized with vampires. I still think it's gross to have to survive on blood, and now that I'm older, I can appreciate the various legends of the vampire. Twilight haters still irritate me-- the fact that they can't get over Stephenie Meyer's vampires sparkle in the sun rather than burn to a crisp is ridiculous. I think it's brilliant and unique. Another reason I like her version of the vampire lore is that they don't have fangs. And hers are harder to kill than a simple stake to the heart. I find it odd that she describes her vampires' skin as being as hard as granite and the conversion lasts for three days. I mean, who wants to feel like they're dying a painful death of being burned alive for three agonizing, long days? Not me! But in the end, it would be worth it. To witness history for eternity is fascinating to me. And as long as you had a mate or belonged to a coven, being undead doesn't seem so bad.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not into zombies or werewolves. Just, yuck! I can barely tolerate the shapeshifters in Twilight. No offense, it's just not my cup of tea. Again, it goes back to when I was young. I've always loved horror movies, or back then I called them monster movies. You know, old movies in black and white from the thirties starring Boris Karloff, Bela Lugosi, etc. One of the best silent movies was released in 1922 and starred Max Schreck as the title character, Nosferatu. Vampires sure have come a long way, baby!

I'm glad to be writing again. I was a Journalism major in college, and I had a professor tell me that I had to choose between the styles of writing and concentrate on one or the other, as they are completely different. Granted, going back and forth between the short, analytical style journalists use and the long, descriptive style that authors use was very taxing on my poor, little brain. ;) Unfortunately, I got really sick my sophomore year. I didn't withdraw from classes by the deadline, and due to my academic probation from a bad semester my freshman year (too much fun being on my own for the first time in my life), I was expelled. I have fifty-nine credit hours for my futile effort.

Lately, though, I can't help but wonder if I were able to finish back then, graduated in May 1997 with my friends and received my Bachelor of Science degree, what I would be doing now. Would I be a well-known reporter for an international news agency? Where would I be living? Would I be married to a football player and living in Florida? I don't think it's healthy to worry about the "what if's" in life. I have a renewed determination about changing my future.

All right, enough about me. I'll let the rest of the blog show my "fanfic" side. Follow me on Twitter and Facebook, too!
